Here is a gallery of them compiled into one place.

As you’ll see, the event inspires a whole range of relaxation techniques, and a vibrant community. For every retreat we end up having a waiting list, the word of mouth is so strong about the power of this event. We also see a lot of new faces each time, meaning that it is reaching out to an ever broader community.

If you have photos from your experience, please send them to us! We’ll add them here.

Send to:
admin@hhrec.org
Or:
2288 Fulton St, Ste #103
Berkeley, CA 94704

See the Gallery HERE!

As we mentioned, this was our largest retreat to date, with 150 men and women in attendance.

Here is a slideshow of photos from the event.

* If you have suggestions for a larger venue that would offer us a non-profit rental rate, we would be so grateful. The ideal space would hold 200+, have separate rooms for workshops, be naturally bright and airy, and relaxing. He is a powerful speaker with a clear voice and a clearer message: You have to be AWAKE to relax, and you have to be sitting still, doing nothing, just letting the breath flow through you and your thoughts come and go.

Dr Staggers is specializes in addiction medicine, HIV medicine, and stress management. He is the Medical Director of the Berkeley Addiction Treatment Services Center. He is the former medical director of the Haight Ashbury Free Clinics Drug Rehabilitation and Aftercare Program; and he is also the former director of the alcohol, drug, and methadone programs of the West Oakland Health Center.

Dr Staggers has been an investigator on multiple federal research grants, including research on the effects of the Transcendental Meditation program on cardiovascular disease.

For the ACA Symposium, Dr. Staggers brought his powerful ideas to a PowerPoint presentation form. He wanted to share that with you, so we are attaching it below for you to watch and soak up.

The benches showed three generations of women interacting and saying “We Care About Your Future. We Need To Talk.” The purpose of the bench was to reach out to the community, particularly the young people, so they know there are adults and elders who care about their futures and who want to support them in finding ways to change the levels of violence, stress and grief in our community.

The women and girls in this picture are from across the county, including former BWMP Coordinator (and current Community Advisory Board member) Bea Williams, looking somber and focused in the back. Her powerful gaze in this picture reminds us of the seriousness of the issues at hand, while the playful smile of Uma Salama Sabrie (in red) reminds us of the caring and love we need in order to overcome.

The phone calls have poured in. One woman told us that she had seen the billboard and it made her realize it was time for her to make change in her life. Others called to say “how can we help?” or “who are these women?” If you have seen this billboard, please call or email us and let us know what you think.
