Black women’s media project
Dr. Frank Staggers has been a keynote speaker at every Black Women’s Media Project “Be Still” Meditation Retreat, as well as at the recent Symposium for service providers on the impact of Adult Child of Alcoholic Syndrome on the African American community. He is a powerful speaker with a clear voice and a clearer message: You have to be AWAKE to relax, and you have to be sitting still, doing nothing, just letting the breath flow through you and your thoughts come and go.
Dr Staggers specializes in addiction medicine, HIV medicine, and stress management. He is the Medical Director of the Berkeley Addiction Treatment Services Center. He is the former medical director of the Haight Ashbury Free Clinics Drug Rehabilitation and Aftercare Program; and he is also the former director of the alcohol, drug, and methadone programs of the West Oakland Health Center.
Dr Staggers has been an investigator on multiple federal research grants, including research on the effects of the Transcendental Meditation program on cardiovascular disease.
For the ACA Symposium, Dr. Staggers brought his powerful ideas to a PowerPoint presentation form. He wanted to share that with you, so we are attaching it below for you to read and soak up.
You have to be AWAKE to relax!
